Delonghi Rialto Automatic Espresso Coffeemaker EAM4500 | Coffee ...

I have progressed over the years from basic brewed, ground coffee to fresh ground, brewed coffee, then to burr mill ground, brewed coffee, and finally, to this Delonghi Rialto Automatic Espresso Coffeemaker. The DeLonghi Rialto is the fourth espresso machine I’ve own, the second automatic, the second most expensive and performance wise the best. I have been using beans ordered online from Supreme Bean in L. A. and Atomic Cafe in VT and it blows away any other coffee I have made at home and 99% of coffee I’ve had out and about. The DeLonghi Rialtois is an exceptional automatic espresso machine. 1 year plus update: Delonghi discontinued this machine in favor of the same model with a better stainless steel boiler, the ESAM4500. My favorite brewed coffee was Eight O’clock whole bean, but it is a bit too oily a bean for this machine, I found. The container has settings for regular milk and skim milk, so it makes a perfect topping every time. I just did the rescaling cycle for the first time with the Delonghi descaler fluid. Instead of frothing the milk yourself, it does it for you and you can set it to latte – which is just basically warmed up milk, or cappuccino, which gives you some nice froth. Also, if you are in SoCal, you can pick these coffee makers up at the Starbucks outlet at the Ontario Mills Outlet Mall (where the 10 and 15 freeways intersect northeast of Los Angeles) for a fraction of the retail price. These automatic Espresso machines are not cheap but it is certainly a worthwhile luxury if you are a coffee lover. Just fill the container with milk, attach it to the machine and hit the Cappuccino button. Just about every setting can be adjusted to your personal taste, so you can set it up just the way you like. The Rialtois is an attractive stainless steel unit that matches well with other stainless steel appliances. The machine is expensive, but when I factor in the drastic reduction in $$ spent at coffee shops it will pay for itself pretty quickly. It is hard to go back to even burr mill ground, brewed coffee now. This machine is the ultimate in enjoying a cup of coffee. Before the o-ring broke, I loved it and would be quick to recommend it, other than concerns with servicing the machine. The Rialtois comes with a manual and a DVD to guide you through use of the machine. The set up and use instructions are relatively simple and easy to follow. I bought this machine about three months ago and am really happy with it. It works flawlessly. You figure out how you want your drink made and the machine memorizes your preferences. I have owned this machine for 6 months now. Everything about this machine I find thoughtfully laid out and designed. The milk container is also very easy to clean.
